Privacy notice

We only collect what we need to help you, and we never sell or share your details for marketing.

Who we are

Spire Computer Help is a volunteer-run community group based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. We are responsible for the information you give us through this website. If you have any questions about it, please contact us on 07349 916841 or at spire.computer.help@gmail.com.

When you use our contact form

We collect your name, your email address, your phone number (if you choose to give it) and your message.

We use these only to read and reply to your message. Your message is sent by email to our volunteers' inbox and kept there for as long as we need it to help you. We use a service called Resend to send these emails.

When you send us a suggestion

The “Suggest a word”, “Suggest a website”, “Suggest a talk” and “Suggest a tip” boxes don't ask for your name or any contact details, so please don't include personal information. We keep each suggestion only until a volunteer has looked at it, and then delete it.

When you sign up for our emails

If you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your name and email address so we can send you news about Tech Talks, scam warnings and tips. Our mailing list is run by Mailchimp. You'll be sent an email to confirm you really did sign up, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link — you can leave whenever you like.

Our legal basis

For contact form messages, we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch with us. For the newsletter, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.

Website statistics

We use Vercel Analytics to count how many people visit each page. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you personally. If you choose a text size or colour setting, that choice is remembered on your own device only.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just get in touch using the details above. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).

Our volunteers

This notice covers this website only. All our volunteers are DBS checked, and if you come to a help session they will be happy to explain how any details you give them are used.
